Feels grubby when…

… you agree with Boris.

Well, fortunately I don’t, really. Boris wants a new airport in the Thames Estuary to augment the already-at-capacity Heathrow and Gatwick. I actually think a new offshore airport with a high-speed Maglev link to central London is a fabulous idea. It could have four runways and completely replace Heathrow, Gatwick and City airports. However, it should only be done within an explicit policy to cap and eventually reduce air traffic in the UK, which frankly is not going to happen until people wake up and smell the impending apocalypse coffee. The benefits would be huge – reduced overland emissions, reduced noise pollution, and the gifting of two already-well-connected bits of prime real estate to build sustainable dwellings on.
