Vote passes but battle won’t stop here

As expected, the government have won a vote to introduce vastly increased fees as part of a wider package to move towards an deregulated and market-oriented higher education system. A committed and passionate crowd marched to parliament today, not (I suspect) with any hope of changing the vote, but sending a message that this package of absurd changes will be challenged at every point possible.  Furthermore, the presence of unions on the march hopefully indicates a future coalition between various groups most affected by the brutal and completely unnecessary cuts being forced upon us by an undemocratic and deceitful government.
