Extreme Weather Magnet

Tonight a friend and I were caught right in the middle of this pseudo-tornado in Brooklyn. We were sheltering way under a roof but the rain was being thrown in horizontally with such force that it was like having been dunked in a bath. It made me realise that while travelling I’ve been hit by extreme weather events on several occasions recently.

I was in D.C. for both the December 2009 record snowfall and then both New York and D.C. for the aftermath of this freak winter precipitation. Back home in January, it was Snow Day in London and the southeast, where the city pretty much shut down in the face of an unusual cold snap. Then, living in Mexico City this year, I coincided with what is projected to be the wettest year ever; particularly July and August with around four hours of heavy rain most days.

Must be something about the way I dance…
