Dillon Gee vs. The World

Good times down at Nats Park

I went to see Dillon Gee make his major league debut tonight, pitching for the Mets against fellow debutant Yuneski Maya – a double debut is a rarity in itself, so that was fun. Nats Park was pretty empty, with maybe 4,000 fans there for this otherwise meaningless game. Gee was good – he had a no-hitter going into the sixth, and left an inning later having been very efficient with his pitches. He seems like a pitcher who will get by on his smarts rather than his stuff, which I always find easy to root for (see Bannister, Brian). Here are a few photos from the game.

That Ben’s Chilli Bowl Half-Smoke was consumed at 6.30pm. When we went running at around 10.45pm, it was still causing me extreme discomfort. Serves me right for nom-nom-noming on junk food.
